Historic Heroes 2026

2026-06-07 Fokker D.21 update:
During preparations for the Fokker D.21 229 for Historic Heroes, an issue was identified with the flap system. This issue requires attention before the aircraft can be returned to full operational service. We are currently awaiting the necessary parts. Our technical committee has explored all possible alternatives, but unfortunately, no feasible alternative solution has been found within the short timeframe leading up to June 13. For our organization, flight safety always takes precedence over time constraints and the schedule, especially when it comes to an extremely unique historic aircraft like the Fokker D.21. The aircraft will therefore not fly, but it will be on display during the event with two scheduled engine runs.
Historic Heroes
Experience living aviation history at Historic Heroes, the signature heritage event by Egmond Vintage Wings. On June 13, 2026, Hoogeveen Airfield comes alive with rare vintage aircraft, classic cars, historic motorcycles, and immersive WWII reenactments.
A major highlight this year: the unique, fully active Fokker D.21—a legendary piece of Dutch aviation history—will be taking to the skies.
EVW will also reveal several exciting future projects, giving visitors an exclusive look at what's ahead for the preservation of flying heritage.
